Position: Head-Coach (JH Softball)
Responsible To: Athletic Director & Building Principal
Qualifications:
- Preferred Education Certification with DESE and holds coaching certification
- Experience working with Junior High and High School students.
- Practical knowledge of sport.
Primary Responsibilities:
This position assists in teaching and coaching our students at the highest level that can be attained which would support the academic beliefs and practices of the Climax Springs R-IV School District.
Term Of Employment:
Supplement, salary and work year to be established by the Board.
Evaluation:
In accordance with provisions of the Board’s policy on Evaluation of Professional Personnel.
Performance Responsibilities:
- Abide by any sport guidelines set forth by MSHSAA, including: rules reviews, Officials evals, and all other AD directives.
- Assist in teaching and coaching at the highest level.
- Attend work regularly, this includes all supervision related to practices and riding buses to games.
- Comply with administrative directives.
- Comply with all district rules, regulations, and policies.
- Consistently Communicates with the Athletic Director to have all team events on the district gym calendar, prior to the start of the season.
- Consistently stays up to date with district email.
- Enforces discipline and sportsmanlike behavior at all times, and establishes and oversees penalties for breach of such standards in individual students.
- Adheres to and modifies building cleaning schedules that are attached to job description.
- Maintains courteous and professional relationships with pupils, parents/guardians, teachers and other employees of the district and all patrons of the district.
- Professionally represent the school and the District in interactions with parents, staff and students and resolves conflict in a professional manner.
- Prior to season starting, update the current calendar of team schedule, practices, open gyms, etc for administration’s, athletic directors and parents as directed.
- Occasionally perform work beyond a standard 40-hour work week when work-load requires.
- Oversees the safety condition of the facility or area in which assigned sport is conducted at all times that students are present.
- Submit all required paperwork or reports at the time requested.
- Supervise students in out-of-classroom activities as assigned.
- Works closely with the athletics director in scheduling intramural and interscholastic contests.
- Keeps spaces clean and orderly, such as but not limited to: Storage rooms, changing rooms, stage, and gym.
- Other duties and responsibilities deemed necessary may be assigned as needed.
Supervisory Duties:
Responsible for supervision of student members of the coaching team.

Competently remain in the loop of communication with AD and Principals via email and otherwise
Attendance:
Consistent and regular attendance is an essential function of this position Must follow district policy on employee absences.
Computation:
Ability to define problems, locate and reference district policies, and draw valid conclusions.
Hearing:
Must be able to hear a conversation in a noisy environment .
Language:
An individual who holds this position must have the ability to:
- Ability to communicate fluently verbally and in writing in English.
- Preset information to students in an organized, and professional manner, which conveys professionalism to students, parents, peers, and stakeholders appropriately.
- Read, analyze and interpret administrative correspondence and directives as well as Board policy and handbooks.
- Keep student information confidential according to FERPA when required by law, except for from the building administration.
Physical Demands:
An individual who holds this position must be able to demonstrate physical situations including weather or surface related areas as well as working on game plans or other related tasks that would be done by the head coach. Individuals frequently move in and around buildings and grounds, attend meetings and supervise designated areas. Frequently required to stand, walk; sit; use hands for fine manipulation, handle or feel and reach with hands and arms using a keyboard and video display terminal. Occasionally required to stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. Regularly lift and/or move up to 35 pounds and occasionally up to 75 pounds.
